Description

Over the past half year, the Young Lawyers Committee, Judiciary Committee, and Government Service and Public Interest Committee have been working on a series of events designed to illuminate the steps to get more AAPI attorneys to consider a judicial career path. This panel discussion will be the capstone of our Committees' three-part series, "Pathways to the Bench." In our first event, focused on showing how someone can become a federal clerk or state court attorney, we had 5 AAPI clerks and court attorneys talking about why they applied to be clerks and court attorneys, how they got the jobs, and how they secured their positions. In our second event with a panel of state court judges, including Justice Wan of the Appellate Division, we showed attendees the nuances of landing on the state bench: the different state courts, the elected and appointed pathways. We aim to do the same thing with the federal judge panel at the Fall Conference. Our esteemed panel of Federal judges will share their particular pathways to the bench, so that others are inspired to follow their footsteps and are given the tools to do so.
