Cybersecurity Director of FTI Consulting
Eric Lunser is the Cybersecurity Director of FTI Consulting, where he is a seasoned cybersecurity expert with more than eight years of combined experience in law enforcement and the private sector. His expertise spans computer and mobile forensics, incident response, investigations, cybersecurity assessments, and litigation support.
At FTI Consulting, Mr. Lunser is responsible for managing the complexities of client engagements. He leads cybersecurity teams through complex incident response and breach support, conducts comprehensive in-depth investigations, and oversees privacy, regulatory, and security assessments. His expertise extends to developing and implementing robust cybersecurity procedures across various control frameworks. Mr. Lunser is also skilled in collecting and preserving volatile digital evidence, creating unbiased forensic reports, and providing expert testimony in criminal and civil cases., preservation of volatile digital evidence from a wide array of environments, developing forensic artifacts, creating unbiased reports, and providing expert testimony in criminal and civil litigation.
Mr. Lunser serves as a commander of the practice’s Incident Response team for North America. He leads and oversees incident response teams concerning insider threat investigations, business email compromise, corporate espionage, ransomware attacks, data exfiltration, and other matters involving digital forensics.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Lunser served as a cybersecurity director at Prescient, a global risk management and intelligence services firm. In this role, he managed the firm’s response to ransomware attacks, business email compromise, insider threat investigations, and other incidents involving digital forensics. In addition, Mr. Lunser established policies and procedures for collecting, documenting, preserving, and handling digital evidence.
Before joining Prescient, Mr. Lunser held a lengthy career with the New York State Police (NYSP) for more than 21 years. While with the NYSP, Mr. Lunser attained the rank of Investigator assigned to the New York State Police Troop F Computer Crime Unit (CCU). He was a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force as well as a Task Force Partner with the United States Secret Service based out of Brooklyn, NY. His law enforcement career focused on combating cyber crime, including child exploitation and complex financial crimes.
Eric has earned numerous certifications from computer forensic tool providers as well as tool agnostic computer forensic organizations. These certifications include: Cellebrite Certified Mobile Examiner (CCME), Magnet Forensics Magnet Certified Forensic Examiner (MCFE), International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS) Computer Forensic Certified Examiner (CFCE), IACIS Mobile Device Examiner (ICMDE), and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) Certified Cyber Crime Examiner (3CE).
